​POSITION: Facilities Manager - Part Time (Approx. 15 hours/week)

MISSION: To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: The Facilities Manager is responsible for the regular maintenance, custodial duties, and cleanliness of the church building and grounds, both interior and exterior, in order to enhance the congregation’s ministry of hospitality and witness.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Facilities Manager reports to the Senior Pastor for all aspects of the position. As a member of the staff, they shall be expected to attend all staff meetings when scheduled.


  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a call to serve Him in the area of their position, and be able to clearly articulate both.
  • Must model a life consistent with the character of the Christian walk by (1) avoiding things that are inconsistent with the life of faith (addictive behaviors, moral compromise, self-centeredness, pride, malice, poor stewardship of resources, etc.), (2) seeking to do good in every possible way, and (3) pursuing growth in their own spiritual lives (church attendance, devotional life, etc.).
  • Must demonstrate, in their practice of ministry and their personal life, a commitment to the core values, mission, and vision of Trinity UMC.
  • Be a model of servant leadership, both spiritually and in ways related to their position.
  • Must embody the principles as set forth in the “Expectations for Leadership” Document.
  • Must have a desire to learn, grow, and adapt.


  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the complete church facility (sanctuary, fellowship hall, classrooms, Faith Café, offices, halls, bathrooms, kitchen), making sure that it is presentable for use at all times, including but not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, washing, waxing, buffing floors; cleaning walls and  ceilings as needed; changing light bulbs, dusting pews, altar, pulpit, lectern and other furniture; changing candles; polishing candle holders, lighters, and other brass fixtures; maintaining the eternal flame; keeping all church décor clean and presentable; straightening all rooms to ensure they are free of clutter; cleaning all bathroom and kitchen fixtures and appliances; cleaning mirrors, windows, and other glass surfaces; taking out the trash; cleaning and straightening tables and chairs; cleaning and maintaining toys in the nursery; changing the air conditioning filters, cleaning windowsills, removing cobwebs, etc.
  • Responsible for purchasing cleaning supplies and other materials necessary for the job; must be cognizant of the constraints of the annual budget.
  • Develop and maintain a regular schedule (some things should be done bi-weekly, others weekly, others monthly, others seasonally, others annually). Keep a checklist to ensure everything is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Must be willing to clean occasionally on weekends, following weddings and church events.
  • All other responsibilities as defined by the Senior Pastor and/or determined by ministry need (possibly including mowing/trimming outside).


  • High school diploma or the equivalency (preferred)
  • Two or more years experience in custodial work (preferred)


  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be capable of working under authority.
  • Must be self-motivated and have excellent time management skills.
  • Must perform excellent work.
  • Must be reliable and dependable in work attendance, punctuality, and ability to get things done.
  • Must be able to make decisions and solve problems on your own.
  • Must be flexible to the demands of ministry (e.g., funerals, weddings).
  • Must be a positive witness of the church in the community (both on and off the clock).
  • Must be hospitable to guests and those coming to the office.
  • Must have strong communication and listening skills.
  • Must know how to use the equipment needed for the job.
